Description
The STRELA Tribute 1965TR40 is a hand-wound mechanical watch manufactured in Moscow by Volmax, the company behind Sturmanskie, Aviator and Buran. Limited to 250 pieces, it combines an original vintage Poljot movement with gold-tone dial details and a case back commemorating Alexei Leonov’s historic spacewalk.
Original Poljot movement
At its heart is the Poljot 2609, a hand-wound calibre produced by the First Moscow Watch Factory. The movements were sourced from Volmax’s own stock and are unused vintage movements, known as new old stock (NOS).
Following their long period in storage, each movement underwent a complete overhaul by Volmax’s watchmakers, including cleaning and fresh lubrication, before being fitted to the watch.
The movement features 17 jewels, shock protection and central seconds. It operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz) and provides a power reserve of approximately 40 hours when fully wound.
Dial and space heritage
The dial features Cyrillic lettering, applied gold-tone numerals and hour markers, and matching gold-tone hour and minute hands. A blue central seconds hand adds a contrasting detail.
The decorated case back depicts Alexei Leonov’s historic spacewalk, commemorating the first person to leave a spacecraft and venture into open space, secured by a tether.
Case and dimensions
The stainless steel case combines polished and brushed surfaces with an anti-reflective mineral crystal. It measures 40 mm in diameter, 11.8 mm in height and 47 mm from lug to lug. The 20 mm lug width accommodates a range of compatible straps.
