Description
The Cosmos 1965CO40 is a remarkable hand-wound watch by Strela, housing the rare Poljot Vintage Movement 2609. This model pays tribute to the days of space exploration.
The stainless steel case of this watch is polished and brushed, with a diameter of 40mm (43mm including the crown). It has a height of 11.8mm and a lug-to-lug width of 47mm. Featuring an anti-reflective mineral crystal and a lug width of 20mm, it offers a balanced and comfortable wearing experience.
One of the standout features of this watch is the Poljot 2609 movement. This movement has not been in production for many years, making it extremely rare. Strela managed to acquire some of these vintage movements from original Poljot stock and thoroughly overhauled, cleaned, and re-oiled them. The Poljot 2609 movement boasts 17 jewels, operates at 18,000 semi-oscillations per hour, and includes shock protection, central seconds, and an impressive power reserve of about 40 hours. It is considered one of the most important and reliable movements ever produced by the 1st Moscow Watch Factory (Poljot).
The dial of the Cosmos 1965CO40 is inscribed in Cyrillic and features hands in the typical Strela design of the 1960s, with luminous material applied to them. A red second hand adds a striking accent. The intricately decorated case back depicts the image of the extravehicular activity of Alexei Arkhipovich Leonov, the Soviet cosmonaut who was the first person to exit his spacecraft and float freely in space, tethered only by a rope – a historic moment in space exploration.
This watch is limited to 250 pieces and comes with a Strela textile strap and a Strela watch case.
